Persons with type II diabetes either cannot produce any insulin or produces very low levels that cause the blood sugar to stay elevated and creates many other complications (CDC.gov, 2014). Having diabetes can†¦show more content†¦The Centers for Disease explains that pre-diabetes is a condition in which blood glucose levels are elevated above normal range but, not high enough to be diabetic levels (CDC.gov, 2014). Although, there are many factors that come into play when someone has diabetes, such as; genetics, lifestyle, and education factors as well, the constant rise is troubling. Prevention and Maintenance of diabetes is a factor that increases the amount spent on diabetes care in the country. Therefore preventions and proper management of diabetes is essential. The Centers for Disease Control maintains that: â€Å"†¦ Diabetes complications are debilitating, costly, and sometimes deadly. Diabetes complications tend to be more common or more severe among people whose diabetes is poorly controlled. Diabetes control, achieved through diabetes care and management and clinical preventive care practices, keeps people with diabetes healthy and can improve health outcomes (CDC.gov, 2014)†. The complications of Diabetes can commonly lead to high blood pressure, blindness, heart disease/stroke, kidney disease, some nervous system disorders, and amputations as well. According to the CDC, as of March 2013, the total cost of diabetes in 2012 costs the United States $245 Billion. This number could be significantly decreased if many more people held themselves more accountable for their diabetic condition.
